The full verse reads “It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.”
If you read the context, there was a group of people who were insisting that new converts to Christianity would be circumcised. 🤭Imagine that… a group who expected and required physical evidence for a spiritual change.
Know anyone like that?
If you study it out you’ll find Paul is more concerned about something much deeper than a physical cutting of the flesh.
The expectations of others and the requirements of “religion” will always fall short of the true purpose of God because people can only make judgements based on what they see, but God judges the heart.
Your past, you failings, your sin, your physical appearance, your family history, your decisions good and bad – they’re not the thing… your transformation… that’s the thing. That’s what counts.
